Hobsonville Road Cycleway Construction Underway

February 9, 2026

As you may have noticed, roadworks have recently popped up around a few key Hobsonville Point intersections. That’s because construction of the Hobsonville Road Cycleway officially kicked off in early January 2026, a major milestone for our growing community and a big step toward a safer, more connected neighbourhood.

The works are being delivered in stages, beginning at Squadron Drive and progressing south along Hobsonville Road toward Oreil Avenue. This phased approach will help manage traffic flow and minimise disruption, though you may still experience some changes to road layouts, pedestrian access, and temporary detours at times.

While roadworks can be an inconvenience, it’s all in service of a long-term benefit: a dedicated, separated walking and cycling route that makes it easier – and much safer – to get around by bike. Once completed, the cycleway will link key parts of the area, connecting Hobsonville and West Harbour through to Westgate and the northwestern cycleway. It’s especially good news for local students, families, and anyone looking to commute by bike or simply enjoy more active ways of getting around.

Updated timelines and detour information will be shared regularly on AT’s website and Sign up here to receive email updates on the construction.
